On the Easel

Second in the Series.

I painted the canvas with Liquid White so I could get the transition from light to dark to flow a little easier. As the name implies, Liquid White is very thin. This enables me to put the primary oils over it, which increases the “flow” of the oils. It really helps when you are trying to make a very gradual, soft blend.

I kept the area where the figure will go white this time. I think it will help with the flesh tones and also cause the figure to more easily jump to the foreground.

Starting on the details. I am looking forward to working on this one. There is a lot of action in the figure.

Today I added the face and hair. Sometimes you just have to jump right in and tackle the hard stuff when you are feeling confident. Things should progress pretty quickly now.

Now that the other elements are pretty much dry, I have completed the majority of the work on his shirt. I think the highlights and shadows came out quite nice on this piece.

Almost done! Give me a hand! (no, really, I still have to paint his other hand!)

I completed the other hand today and a few other minor details here and there. The second piece in the series is complete.
I hope someone likes it!
