Underpainted in red acrylic and roughly sketched. I painted the sky, as well as the basic foreground layout – much to do! I wanted to do a larger piece that held some of the same elements as the sky in the painting “A Tale of Two”. Playing a bit with different shades of blue and blue-grey.

Working here to build in the foreground elements and focal point after creating some depictions of a city and mountains in the background.

This is the finished piece. As you can see, it took me almost a year to complete. It was really just an exercise in creating a simple painting with a complicated meaning. I completed the foreground with a lot of smaller elements, including a clay pot. It is a peaceful work, but moving at the same time.
